Sunday Mornings

"Both / And" - June Worship Series

Clearcut categories are helpful. They make life easier to understand. But real people don't fit neatly into boxes. We are full of tensions and paradoxes that - when embraced - can bring immense depth and beauty to life. Through this series, we will explore how faith in Christ calls us away from an "either/or" experience of the world and into the wonderful truth of "both/and."

UWFaith Juneteenth & Father's Day Picnic

The United Women in Faith (formerly United Methodist Women) invite you to join in a Juneteenth & Father's Day celebration on Saturday, June 20th from 12 to 6pm. The picnic will be held at Neighborhood United Methodist Church (1817 Washington Blvd, Maywood).

 

No RSVP required.

Each week we will dive deeper into the Sunday morning scriptures (and their accompanying texts). Taking time for Scripture study and discussion is an important part of our Christian discipleship, and our tradition as Methodists. Attend as often as you can!

Wednesdays

Weaving Plastic Sleeping Mats

10:30a- Noon

Join us in weaving sleeping mats from disposable plastic bags.  The mats will benefit the housing insecure  who are served by the Midwest Mission.

 

You can also help by saving and donating clean, used plastic bags like the kind you get from a grocery store.  Bags cannot have been used to transport items that leave a residue or odor and must be dry.

Want to learn more about what it means to be a a Christian, a United Methodist , and/or part of the First United Methodist Church family?  Join us for this informative session learning some of the basics while getting better acquainted with the pastor, some folks already active in the church, and others exploring just like you.
