"Rediscovering Our United Methodist Roots" - August Worship Series

Roots give us the stability and nourishment we need to grow and break new ground. As we seek to grow in our faith as individuals and as the church, looking back at the deep roots of the Methodist movement can help us look

forward to our future. More than mere traditions or rituals, our Methodist roots are evidence of God’s Spirit moving through our history, the same Spirit who is breathing life into us today.

Week 3 (8/16): Personal and Social Holiness

Week 4 (8/23): Holy Conferencing

Week 5 (8/30): Baptism

We are excited to welcome Rev. Dr. Linny Hartzell (8/16) and Rev. Barbara Good (8/23) as guest preachers this month! 

Sunday School has Resumed!

Children are invited to participate in Sunday School after the scripture reading. The Sunday School is looking for volunteer helpers. Please reach out to Debbie Markwell if you are interested in helping out.

School Supplies Drive

During the month of August we will be collecting school supplies for distribution through Kids Above All.

A list of desired items will be on the table in the narthex at the front of the church.

We will do a blessing of the supplies before taking them to Kids Above All.

Music Rehearsals are Starting!

We are excited to kick off our music ministry for the fall season! 

Choir will begin Wednesday evening rehearsals on Wednesday, August 19th at 7pm.

Bell Choir will begin Saturday morning rehearsals on Saturday, August 15th at 10am.

August Mugs & Muffins

We are resuming our Mugs & Muffins fellowship hour after worship on Sunday, August 30th.

We invite you to join us in fellowship as we discuss the progress of our Transitions and Building Stewardship committees over muffins and coffee.

Weaving Plastic Sleeping Mats

10:30a- Noon

Join us in weaving sleeping mats from disposable plastic bags.  The mats will benefit the housing insecure  who are served by the Midwest Mission.

You can also help by saving and donating clean, used plastic bags like the kind you get from a grocery store.  Bags cannot have been used to transport items that leave a residue or odor and must be dry.

Discipleship Exploration Class

Want to learn more about what it means to be a a Christian, a United Methodist , and/or part of the First United Methodist Church family?  Join us for this informative session learning some of the basics while getting better acquainted with the pastor, some folks already active in the church, and others exploring just like you.

Watch for announcements of when the next session will be or reach out to the pastor in the meanwhile for what your next steps in discipleship might be.
