Dear FUMC family,
You all must remember Sarah Hairston, from the Night Ministry, who came to share the Mission Moment with us...
She told us all about Night Ministry Chicago, along with their missions and values. Zach Ellis, one of our youth, shared his experience with the Night Walk on that Sunday as well. Then, in the Children's Chapel, children and youth talked more about homelessness, learning that homeless people are not different than we are, nor do they look different. One of our youth, suggested that we say they are "less fortunate" instead of "homeless," and also said that "living with less means does not always mean they are not happy."
"THEY STILL HAVE FAMILY AND SUPPORT. FANCY THINGS ARE NOT AS IMPORTANT AS FAMILY." (Zach)
"SOME PEOPLE HAVE MORE THAN THEY NEED, AND THAT'S WHY IT'S IMPORTANT TO SHARE, TO HELP OTHERS WHO ARE IN NEED." (Eva)
As a part of ongoing mission project to raise awareness of youth homelessness in Chicago and support the Night Ministry, FUMC Education and Mission Committee invite you all to participate in this project by bringing coins, socks, underwear. You can also give cash or checks. Please make sure they are clearly marked NIGHT MINISTRY.
