Mission Moment - 5th Sunday Offering March 31

Since this Sunday is the fifth Sunday of the month we will take a break from our UMC Special Sunday collections to support our Honduran Missionary Jose Roberto Pena-Nazario.

This Sunday, the fifth Sunday of the month, is one of four Sundays this year that we take a special collection to support our missionary in Honduras Jose Roberto Pena-Nazario. This is a difficult time for many people in Latin America including Honduras. As a missionary and pastor Jose is responsible for developing new churches, bringing new members to the Christian community, developing leadership and assisting people in the community to improve their living conditions. Funds collected this Sunday will go toward his work of making disciples of Christ to transform the world. Please be sure to designate “missionary” on your check or envelope.

Honduras pastor serves as 'tobacco chaplain' – The United Methodist Church “When I don’t come, (workers) ask me, ‘Why? We need you to bring the Christian message.’”

He is the pastor of The Central United Methodist Church of Danlí, the first organized church of the United Methodist mission in Honduras. To date, Danali church has already started 4 more churches!

  • Excuapa UMC organized after Hurricane Mitch.

  • Ríos de Agua Viva UMC in the town of Jagua.

  • Quisqualagua UMC.

  • El Pescadero UMC.

There are now 21 churches and growing numbers of new congregations.
