United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is our arm that assists with needs precipitated by disasters. In response to the situation at our southern border UMCOR has delivered 46,128 hygiene kits to six church-run transitional shelters along the U.S.-Mexico border in the past several months. These transitional shelters are run voluntarily by churches, providing assistance to migrants who have been cleared by U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement to travel to other locations in the U.S. We have been asked to help resupply UMCOR Hygiene Kits for UMCOR to deliver both to these transitional shelters or to sites of other national and international disasters as needed.

The Mission Committee has decided to make UMCOR Hygiene Kits our summer mission project. Here are ways you can help:

1. FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION: You can give money to purchase kit components. We will use your donation to buy the correct components in bulk. PLEASE CLEARLY MARK YOUR CHECK OR ENVELOPE “UMCOR HYGIENE KITS “. Each kit costs about $15 to make and ship.

2. KITS OR COMPONENT CONTRIBUTION: If you would like to purchase kit components yourself or assemble complete kits, use this link for the shopping list and assembly instructions:

Please bring your purchased components or completed kits to the Action Table in Fellowship Hall. There will also be hard copies of the list of components and assembly instructions on the Action Table. PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME COMPONENTS HAVE CHANGED SINCE THE LAST TIME WE MADE HYGIENE KITS.

3. GROUP ASSEMBLY AT CHURCH: If you would like to join us for a time of hands-on fellowship as we gather together to assemble the kits, please stay tuned for the date!

If you have any questions, please ask a Mission Committee member or email Joyce McCullough.
